In contrast to majestic silent Sahara, the Northern Tunisia is a land of forests and mountain chains, of lakes and mineral springs. On the western coast of it Tabarka is located; it is a small nice town with a picturesque sea line and a long beach with thin sand between rocks.

In the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries Italian, Spanish and French conquerors tried to settle down on this coast attracted with its agricultural holdings and precious corals in the coastal waters. Modern jewelers produce wonderful adornments especially necklaces from these corals. An ancient fort of Genoa in Tabarka is an illustration of that epoch.

Nowadays, this region with its long-lasting traditions of local nomads consists of rare settlements; their inhabitants still keep ancient type of life formed with centuries. One of such settlements is located on the level 800 m high; it is Ain Draham - a nice village with red tiled roofs; its name means "Silver Spring". It is enchanting because of its climate and surprising silence.

Tabarka is a special place: this young and picturesque tourist zone attracts those who are fond of undisturbed nature and diving and music. It is a real paradise for those who are enchanted with the sea as well as for golf-players, hunters, riders and good walkers. Thanks to the high level of the hotel service and the assortment of comfortable residences, as well as to the exquisite meals, this resort suits to the most particular clients.

The territory of Tabarka is covered with thick woods where birch, asp, alder and willow are mixed with such a magnificent tree as cork. Abundant winter rains and a great amount of springs provide water for rich deciduous trees. The northern mountain forests of Tunisia are a real dream for wild-boar hunters.

It is an ideal spot for diving and underwater fishing. In this part of coastal waters there are about two dozens of good positions for diving and most part of them is not far than half an hour from the shore. Indeed, there is the biggest Mediterranean coral reef by Tabarka; it is interesting both for beginners and for professional divers.

Tunisia is also known for the quality and the quantity of its thermal springs. There are more than 50 of then in the country. Local people highly estimate their water and regularly visit so called hammams supplied with the water from such hot springs. As for the medical spa system, it has been known in Tunisia for more than a century. Spa baths were built in Hammam Bourguiba, in Jebel Oust and in Korbous, where numerous healing hot springs had been found. If you come to Tabarka you should certainly visit the Centre in Hammam Bourguiba - your body feels mighty preventive and actual healing effect for sure.

Summer in Tabarka is an endless row of musical events; the main of them is the Jazz Festival. It unites great masters of jazz improvisation and ignites public which enjoys itself in the town and in hotels after the show; it seems that everything around vibrates in one festival rhythm. An ancient fortress of Basilica doesn't know calm even when the Festival is finished: there is Festival "Music of the World" and Festival "Music Latinos" here and others as well.
